Welcome to the launch of Jude's Health Journey blog!

Firstly, a big 'thank you' for being here. It's a little over two years since I had the initial idea for this blog, and I really didn't know what I was letting myself in for!

Over the last 20+ years, I have had a lot of surgery and treatment for mouth cancer. It has brought many challenges to my health - both physically and mentally. Staying healthy is something that I have to keep working at, and I hope that by sharing my experience I can help other people who are facing similar challenges.

From an 'epiphany' to a blog!

I had an epiphany early in 2024 when I realised that I was going to be a blogger! I left my job just before my 47th birthday and started to find out what being a blogger actually means. What you are reading is the result.

There has been so much to learn, to get to this point. As well as the technical details of building a website, I've learned about colour psychology, website accessibility, legal compliance, how to 'think like Google', food photography and more.

What to expect from Jude's Health Journey

My blog is about much more than just mouth cancer. I hope it will be interesting and helpful to anyone who needs soft diet ideas - whether that's for a week or for a lifetime. I will also be sharing experiences of wider health and wellbeing topics from acid reflux to yoga! My primary aims are to:

  • share my experience of living with mouth cancer for over 20 years

  • raise awareness of eating and speech difficulties

  • share things I’ve learned and products that work for me

  • provide recipes that I’ve adapted for my limited ability to chew and manipulate food.

My plan is to publish blog posts every Friday and a recipe(s) every Tuesday. I also have some ideas for longer blog articles which delve deeper into certain topics, which will be less frequent as they will take a lot more time and effort. Also look out for bonus posts, like a favourite seasonal cocktail, a quick tip or a new discovery.

The bottom line

I have invested a lot of time, energy and money into creating Jude's Health Journey because I genuinely believe that I have lots of useful information and ideas to share. So please follow me on social media, subscribe to my blog, and tell your 'offline' friends - you never know who might need a little help with easy to chew and soft food ideas!

I hope that I will be able to keep developing the website and blog, but I also need to be able to generate an income. If you like what I'm doing please consider supporting Jude's Health Journey. You can support me by following my affiliate links - at the moment these are just (Ad) Ethical Superstore and (Ad) Harts of Stur but I will be adding more on my favourites page. I will also be linking to specific items in my recipes and other posts. You can also buy me a coffee - find out more by clicking on the button below.

Thank you for reading, and I'll see you in my next post!
